Partnership delivers first vision project to Northwich

The exciting transformation of Northwich's dilapidated train station into a state of the art learning centre and café is the result of successful partnership working.

Vale Royal Borough Council brought together the Learning and Skills Council, Network Rail, Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Passport to Success, Northern Rail and Cheshire County Council to fund the regeneration project. The partnership provided over £500,000 to fund the creation of the Learning Centre, Cyber Café, with PCs for the public to use, training rooms and a cafe.

Local company, Caffe Arabica, who are based on Gadbrook Business Park, Northwich, will be running the café. The café will be open Monday to Friday for both rail passengers and learners.

Cllr Keith Musgrave, Leader of the Council, said: "We worked hard to bring all the partners together to deliver this ambitious regeneration project, which is incidentally the first Northwich Vision project to be completed. I am delighted the Station has been given a new lease of life through our efforts and look forward to seeing it establish its place at the heart of community life".

Chris Kimberley, Commercial Director for Northern Rail, said: "This is another excellent example of the rail industry working together with its partners to provide improved station facilities for the benefit of all concerned".
